 Introduction
Taiwan Radiation Monitoring Station was established in 1974 and official renamed as Radiation Monitoring Center (RMC) in 1996 as a subsidiary government agency under Atomic Energy Council to carry out monitoring of natural radiation in the environment and man-made radiation in the vicinity of nuclear power stations, nuclear research reactors, and nuclear waste facilities.

On September 27, 2023, in conjunction with the organizational adjustment work of the Executive Yuan, the Radiation Monitoring Center, Atomic Energy Council, Executive Yuan was restructured into the Radiation Monitoring Center, Nuclear Safety Commission.

 Responsibility
  1. Survey of natural background radiation.
  2. Survey of radioactive fallout.
  3. Monitoring radiation and radioactivity in surrounding area at nuclear facilities, radioactive waste management, storage , and final disposal sites.
  4. Detection of environmental radiation during and after nuclear accidents.
  5. Disclosure of environmental radiation detection and monitoring information.
  6. Research and development of radioactive analysis technololgy.
  7. Research and development of environmental radiation detection and monitoring technology.
  8. Radiation disaster prevention, preparation and response support.
  9. Assessment of national radiation dose.
  10. Other matters related to environmental radiation detection and analysis.
