The natural background radiation dose level in Taiwan was assessed by using the measured data and the newly published dose conversion factors. The classification item of natural background radiation dose included cosmic rays, terrestrial radiation, inhalation of Rn-222 and food intake. The annual effective dose for people in Taiwan is 2.37 mSv, including 0.35 mSv from cosmic rays, 0.58 mSv from terrestrial radiation, 0.90 mSv from inhalation of Rn-222, and 0.54 mSv from food intake.
