The Department of Radiation Protection ensures radiation safety for personnel and the environment based on professional safety regulatory control and technological inspection, as well as promoting medical exposure quality assurance to ensure the quality of medical exposure.
Controlled premises include nuclear facilities, medical institutions, academic institutions, industrial organizations, and agricultural organizations, where radioactive material and equipment capable of producing ionizing radiation are used.

  • Promoting medical exposure quality assurance regarding medical radioactive material and equipment capable of producing ionizing radiation.
  • Reviewing and issuing medical radiation safety certificates, medical high-intensity radiation facility certificates, and production facility operator certificates.
  • Recognizing, managing, supervising and assessing vendors of medical equipment capable of producing ionizing radiation or radioactive material.
  • Recognizing credits earned from taking training courses on radiation protection offered by medical institutions, as well as supervising and assessing such recognition.
  • Handling medical radiation source operators’ applications for approval of radiation safety certificates, and issuing certificates.

  • Implementing regulatory control of radiation safety for high-intensity radiation facilities, such as irradiation plants and synchrotron radiation accelerators, and radiation source production and manufacturing facilities, as well as reviewing and issuing operators’ certificates.
  • Implementing the regulatory control of whole plants of ion implanters and static eliminators used in the industry.
  • Recognizing, managing, supervising and assessing vendors of non-medical equipment capable of producing ionizing radiation or radioactive material.
