Nuclear Safety Commission (NSC), in its role as the competent authority for radiation safety regulation, continues to exercise professional regulatory oversight, inspections, and guidance over medical radiation exposure commonly encountered by the public. By promoting the Radiation Medical Exposure Quality Assurance Standards, NSC seeks to enhance the quality of radiation-related healthcare nationwide while ensuring radiation safety for the public and the environment.

To strengthen the management of medical radiation exposure, NSC has implemented the Radiation Medical Exposure Quality Assurance Standards since 2004. To date, 12 categories of radiological medical equipment have been incorporated into these standards. Through the establishment of qualified quality assurance professionals and the conduct of comprehensive quality assurance testing, NSC ensures that radiological medical equipment achieves the goal of "right on the target and no more and no less amount of dose," delivering optimal image quality at reasonable radiation levels. In 2025, NSC carried out spot inspections, on-site measurements, and improvement guidance for equipment including cardiac catheterization systems, mammography units, and computed tomography scanners. NSC also continues to organize hands-on training courses for quality assurance professionals to enhance consistency in quality assurance practices and further strengthen professional competence, thereby reinforcing public confidence in radiation-related healthcare services.

As the Lunar New Year approaches, NSC extends its best wishes to the public for good health, safety, and a happy New Year. During the Lunar New Year holiday, radiation safety regulation remains fully operational. In the event of an emergency or radiation abnormality, the public may contact the 24-hour toll-free reporting hotline at 0800-088-928, where on-duty NSC personnel will provide immediate assistance and support.
