To help the public respond effectively and promptly in the event of a nuclear incident, NSC promotes the easy-to-remember “Stay, Watch, and Listen” protective action guidelines:

● Stay and remain indoors,
● Watch the latest official information, and
● Listen to government instructions.

These simple steps enable the public to take the most appropriate protective actions at the earliest possible moment.

To further support public preparedness, NSC has developed the Protective Actions Guidelines for Nuclear Emergency, along with an easy-to-read publication titled “What You Should Know About Nuclear Emergencies” audio versions and animated short videos, which have also been produced to ensure that emergency preparedness information is accessible to diverse audiences.
