As the Lunar New Year approaches, households are busy preparing for the festive season by purchasing New Year's goods and preparing sumptuous feasts. To ensure the radiation safety of food products for the public, the Radiation Monitoring Center (RMC) of the Nuclear Safety Commission (NSC) has conducted random inspections on a total of 40 commonly purchased festive food items. Each item was analyzed for radioactive content. According to the analytical results, all items are within the regulatory limits on radioactivity in food, assuring the public of the safety of these products.

The RMC conducts annual inspections of radioactive contents on a variety of imported  festive food items commonly found in the market, including cashew nuts, dates, pistachios, walnuts, pumpkin seeds, black fungus, and seafood products such as squid, conch meat, anchovies, South American scallops, crustacean crabs, and sea coral. All items are within the  regulatory limit on radioactivity in food(as attached). RMC regularly conducts random inspections on the radioactive contents of imported and domestic food products. Related reports are available on the NSC website (https://www.nusc.gov.tw/rmc/monitoring/fallout.html).

The NSC encourages the public to purchase products from reputable vendors, pay attention to product labels, maintain a diversified diet, and ensure proper food storage. The NSC will continue to strengthen food safety monitoring to ensure the public's food safety. We wish everyone a happy and healthy Lunar New Year!
