Overview:

To strengthen Taiwan’s knowledge and capabilities related to counter-unmanned aircraft systems (CUAS) for nuclear facilities, reducing nuclear security risk, and promoting technical exchanges in nuclear security between Taiwan and the United States, the Nuclear Safety Commission (NSC) and the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration (DOE/NNSA) jointly held the “2026 CUAS Frameworks Virtual Engagement.”

 

The engagement was delivered by U.S. experts in CUAS and nuclear security practices for nuclear facilities. Participants from Taiwan included personnel from National Tsing Hua University, Central Police University, the Second Special Police Corps of the National Police Agency, Taiwan Power Company (including the nuclear power plants), the National Atomic Research Institute, the NSC’s relevant divisions, and the Radiation Monitoring Center.

 

The engagement sessions covered CUAS strategy and planning, the U.S. national-level CUAS framework, and emerging UAS technologies. The program was conducted through online lectures and case discussions. Participants actively exchanged views throughout the engagement, which helped enhance professional understanding of CUAS approaches for nuclear facilities.

 

The NSC will continue to use Taiwan-U.S. technical exchange opportunities to align Taiwan’s nuclear security regulatory practices with international approaches, address nuclear security threats arising from emerging technologies, and strengthen the protection and security of Taiwan’s nuclear facilities.
