Event Highlights:
The Taiwan Nuclear Safety Commission (NSC) delegation traveled to the United States to attend a series of bilateral meetings to advance cooperation between Taiwan and the United States in civil nuclear safety regulation and technical R&D. This year’s technical exchanges focused on nuclear power plant decommissioning, radioactive waste management, licensing systems, advanced reactor technologies, and medical isotope applications. Both sides engaged in substantive discussions on regulatory frameworks, oversight practices, and related R&D efforts.
In addition, Vice Chairperson Chang visited the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), and Department of State (DOS) to exchange views on strengthening technical cooperation in nuclear regulation, enhancing policy communication, and advancing professional capacity building. The meetings reflected the NSC’s strong commitment to nuclear safety and its dedication to active participation in international cooperation.
The NSC will continue to deepen collaboration with the U.S. counterparts in the field of nuclear regulation, promote bilateral dialogues and expert exchanges, align Taiwan’s regulatory standards with international practices, enhance information transparency, and support Taiwan-U.S. cooperation in innovative nuclear technologies.
